Contact

For support, contact [email protected].

You can also report a bad assistant response from inside the app: long-press any assistant message → Report response. This opens a pre-filled email to support.

What support can help with

  • Setup issues (API key, first-run, provider selection)
  • Voice engine setup, Kokoro / Piper model downloads
  • Calendar and reminder issues
  • Memory behaviour questions (why does Aion remember / not remember X?)
  • Local model import and runtime issues
  • Crashes, freezes, and unexpected behaviour
  • Privacy and data-handling questions

What to include in a support request

  1. What you asked Aion to do
  2. What Aion actually did
  3. Whether the issue happens every time or only sometimes
  4. App version (Settings → About)
  5. Device model and Android version
  6. Screenshot if relevant
  7. Bug report export if support asks for it

Safe support guidance

  • Do not send your API keys in support emails
  • Do not email sensitive chat history unless support explicitly asks
  • Prefer bug report export over manual copy/paste when deeper diagnostics are needed
  • Remember that exports can contain personal memory and chat data

Setup FAQ

What does BYOK mean?

BYOK = Bring Your Own Key. You connect your own AI provider key in Settings, and Aion uses that provider for cloud replies. Aion encrypts the key locally using AES-256-GCM with AndroidKeyStore. Axiom Labs never sees your key or your token usage.

How do I add my OpenAI key?

Settings → AI Setup → Choose your AI → pick OpenAI → pick a model (default gpt-4o-mini) → scroll to AI access key → paste → save.

How do I switch to Claude or Gemini?

Settings → AI Setup → AI provider → pick Anthropic for Claude or Google for Gemini → pick a model → paste your key.

Which provider should I pick? Is one better?

Google Gemini is our recommended default. Two reasons: (1) Google offers a generous free tier, so most users pay nothing. (2) Gemini is the only provider with built-in web grounding, which means live web search and Research Mode work out of the box with no second key. OpenAI and Anthropic are excellent too, but they need a free Tavily key on the side for live web search.

What is Tavily and do I need it?

Tavily is a free web-search API that gives OpenAI and Anthropic users live web search in Research Mode. Free tier: ~1,000 searches/month. You only need it if you picked OpenAI or Anthropic and want real-time web results — Gemini users don't need it. Get a key at app.tavily.com → Settings → AI Setup → Web Search API Key → paste → save. Stored encrypted on device, same privacy model as your LLM key.

Why is my Research Mode using old info?

Research Mode needs a live web path. With Google Gemini, it works automatically via Gemini's built-in grounding. With OpenAI or Anthropic, you need a Tavily key — otherwise Research Mode falls back to the model's training knowledge, which can be out of date. Fix: either switch to Google in Settings → AI Setup, or add a Tavily key.

Is the Aion app free?

The Aion app is free. You only pay your chosen AI provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google) for token usage — typically a fraction of a cent per message on the default model. Axiom Labs does not charge for the app or take a cut of provider usage.

What stays on my phone?

All of your memory (beliefs, contradictions, domain assignments), chat history, timeline, profile data, reminders, and journal entries stay on your phone in an app-sandboxed local database. Cloud prompts leave the device only when you use a BYOK provider or an integrated tool, and they contain only the current request's context — not the rest of your memory.

Does Aion block screenshots?

On sensitive screens in the Memory and Settings flows, yes — release builds block OS screenshots using FLAG_SECURE. On the main chat surface, screenshots are allowed so you stay in control of what you save or share.

Is Gmail supported?

Gmail integration is planned for a future update. It is not active in the current release. When it becomes available, you'll be able to connect your Gmail account from Settings → Features → Email — read-only scope, no Aion server in the loop.

How do I set up the Morning Briefing?

Settings → Features → Morning Briefing → enable, then pick a time. Briefings fire at that time each day using exact alarms (requires the SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM permission). Toggle off from the same screen to stop them.

Voice & TTS FAQ

How do I start voice chat?

Long-press the mic icon in the composer. Aion listens, replies, and — with auto-speak on — speaks the reply. Tap the screen to interrupt while Aion is talking.

How do I change the voice?

Settings → Look & Sound → Voice Engine. Three options:

  • System TTS — Android built-in, no download needed
  • Piper Fast (Neural) — lightweight neural TTS, one-time ~20 MB download, AU/US/UK accents, speed slider
  • Kokoro HD (Neural) — high-quality neural TTS with 18 voice presets (10 female, 8 male), streaming speech, one-time model download

Accent and speed live in Playback Tuning (same Settings section).

What's the difference between Kokoro and Piper?

Kokoro HD is higher quality with more voice options and streams speech as the AI reply arrives, so you hear it sooner. Piper Fast is lighter and quicker to download. Both sound much better than System TTS.

How do I do hands-free chat?

Settings → Look & Sound → turn on Auto-speak replies and Auto-send voice transcript. Then long-press the mic — Aion listens, replies, and speaks without another tap.

The Kokoro model won't download

Kokoro requires an initial download (~150 MB, from a public open-source distribution). Check that you have a solid Wi-Fi connection and enough free storage. The download resumes if interrupted. If it fails repeatedly, retry from Settings → Look & Sound → Voice Engine → Kokoro.

Memory FAQ

How does Aion's memory differ from ChatGPT's memory?

ChatGPT's memory is a flat list of facts. Aion's memory is structured: every belief has a confidence score, a last-confirmed timestamp, a source turn, a domain (work, health, family, etc.), and a contradiction history. Beliefs decay when they aren't reinforced. Contradictions are surfaced, not silently overwritten. Recall is semantic, not keyword-based. These differences let Aion notice cross-domain patterns — something a flat list cannot do.

How do I stop Aion from saving something to memory?

Settings → Privacy → turn on Private session. The chat still works — nothing is extracted to memory.

How do I delete a specific memory?

Memory tab → tap or long-press the belief → Delete. It's gone immediately — Aion doesn't "remember it anyway."

How do I edit or pin a belief?

Memory tab → long-press a belief → Edit (to change the value) or Pin (to keep it at the top of the list).

How do I wipe everything Aion knows about me?

Settings → Privacy → Reset active profile. Wipes chats, beliefs, contradictions, reminders, and journals for the active profile. Other profiles are untouched. To remove Aion entirely, uninstall the app — Android removes all app data.

How do I export my memory?

Settings → Advanced (or the export entry point) — produces a passphrase-encrypted file (PBKDF2-SHA256 / AES-256-GCM). You hold the passphrase; Axiom Labs cannot decrypt it.

Feature FAQ

How do I run a deep research task?

Say "research X" or "deep dive into Y". Aion shows a depth picker (Quick / Standard / Deep) and a cost warning, then runs a multi-step web-grounded research session and saves the result as a Word doc.

What's Review Mode?

Say "catch me up", "what changed", "recap my week", or any of 27 trigger phrases. Aion pulls from changed beliefs, past conversations, and open loops to give a 5–7 sentence summary. Works with time windows: today, this week, fortnight, month, or quarter.

Proactive check-ins vs proactive insights?

Check-ins are in-chat follow-ups Aion offers while you're chatting (default ON). Insights are phone push notifications Aion sends when it spots something worth flagging and you're not in the app (default OFF). Both toggle in Settings → Privacy.

What's the Weekly Memory Digest?

A weekend push notification summarising new, updated, and corrected beliefs from the past week — a light audit of what Aion learned. Toggle in Settings → Privacy.

Can Aion read images / PDFs / code files?

Yes. Tap the paperclip in the composer, or use the system share sheet from any app. Aion reads images (camera or gallery), PDFs, Word docs, and common code / text files (.kt .py .js .json .xml .md .txt).

Can I connect multiple profiles?

Yes. Drawer → Profiles → New profile (enter a name and a purpose). Separate profiles have separate memory — work vs personal, or any other split you want. Switch any time from the drawer.

Local mode FAQ

Does Aion work offline?

Cloud providers need internet. There is an optional on-device model in Settings → Advanced → Local runtime — smaller and slower than cloud, but fully offline. The voice engines (Piper and Kokoro) also run fully locally after their one-time download.

Why is local mode slow?

Local models run directly on your phone hardware. Performance depends heavily on device memory, CPU, and model size. Cloud replies will always be faster and higher quality.

Which local model is supported?

Current supported local baseline: TinyLlama-1.1B-Chat-v1.0.Q4_K_M.gguf. Optional and gated in v1.0.1.

Troubleshooting

Replies are failing or the app says "no credit / quota exhausted"

Your provider key is either missing credit, rate-limited, or expired. Check your provider dashboard (platform.openai.com, console.anthropic.com, or aistudio.google.com) and top up or regenerate the key, then paste it back into Settings → AI Setup.

Reminders aren't firing at the exact time

Android requires the SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM permission. Confirm it's granted in system Settings → Apps → Aion → Permissions. Also check that battery optimisation isn't killing Aion in the background.

Calendar events aren't appearing

Confirm READ_CALENDAR and WRITE_CALENDAR permissions are granted, and that the right calendar account is selected in the system calendar app.
